80 Years Young

This body of work was created during the COVID lockdowns, a period defined by isolation, routine, and uncertainty. I spent that time with my grandmother in Meath, on the farm that once belonged to my late grandfather. Within the stillness of those months, I began to observe and photograph her daily rituals as she moved through the spaces they had shared.

The series reflects on presence and absence within the domestic environment. Through gestures and familiar details, such as the arrangement of a kitchen counter or the act of cleaning, traces of memory become visible. These small moments reveal the quiet resilience of a person living through loss, while also preserving the tenderness of ordinary life.

What emerged is both a personal record and an exploration of grief, love, and time. The photographs seek to hold onto the sense of continuity that lingers within the home, where care, habit, and remembrance exist together in quiet conversation.
