A Rainy Sunday at the Irish Open 2025 on Portra 400
Myself and my friends decided we’d hit the road to the K Club inn County Kildare and watch some of the worlds finest professional golfers fight for the title of the Irish Open champion on a rainy Sunday in August. We hit the road and debated, “do we bring our golf shoes?’. This was a talking point for a little while but we opted to bring them as it was going to be wet and they were probably the most practical shoes we owned for the task.
We took the short drive up to Kildare from Dublin and headed on into the event. Luke brought his digital camera and I decided I would tackle to the day with one single roll of Kodak Portra 400 and my Leica M6 with a 35mm lens. I liked the restriction, I wanted to keep it simple, I wanted to still be able to take in the golf and focus on it and not have to focus too much on the photography. It felt like I was slipping back into the style off shooting that I did a lot in my college days.
Back in college, I pretty much exclusively shot 35mm and medium format film. It felt so freeing to return to this style of photography
